Congratulations to all players and staff selected for the 2009 EU Cup. All CAFL players and supporters wish you the very best of luck and will be willing you all on to bring home some silverware for the CAFL trophy cabinet.

All emergency and other players should be doing their best to get to all training sessions, to continue to develop their own skills and further encourage the CZECH LIONS in their lead up to October 3rd!

It will be held on Saturday, October 3rd in the town of Samobor, just outside the Croatian capital Zagreb.

The handicap system will be in place again for the 2009 EU Cup. This idea is to help promote local players and non-Australians playing in each team. For each 'local' player, ie: a Czech playing for Czech Republic, the team receives 3 points at the beginning of the match. For a non-Australian, such as a Slovakian playing for the Czech Republic, the team receives 2 points. 0 points are given for Australian players and a maximum of 6 players from the 15 can be Australian. So, for 2009, the CZECH LIONS will start every match with a 28 point handicap.

There are registration and accomodation costs involved with attendance to the EU Cup. CAFL will be hosting some social events over the summer to help fundraise for this event, these details will be posted on the site shortly and also discussed at Wednesday training sessions over the next few weeks.

More information regarding the tournament can be found at http://www.aussieruleseurope.com/eucup2009/index.php

    Good luck to all players!

    Kinds Regards:

    CAFL
